- The performance indicators of the rotational viscometer must meet the requirements of the measurement verification regulations. The rotational viscometer in use should be verified regularly, and if necessary (the rotational viscometer is often used or in a critical qualified state), an intermediate self-inspection should be carried out to ensure that its measurement performance is qualified and the coefficient error is within the allowable range, otherwise it will not be possible to obtain accurate The data.
- Pay attention to the temperature of the measured liquid. Many users ignore this and think it doesn’t matter if the temperature is slightly different. Experiments have proved that when the temperature deviation is 0.5°C, the deviation of the viscosity value of some liquids is greater than 5%. Temperature deviations have a great influence on viscosity. Therefore, special attention should be paid to keep the temperature of the liquid near the specified temperature point, and the measured temperature should not exceed 0.1°C.
- Correctly select the rotor or adjust the speed so that the indicated value is between 20 and 90 divisions. Rotational viscometer is also called Engel’s viscometer, Engel’s viscometer, digital rotational viscometer, rotational viscometer, digital Brookfield rotational viscometer, Brookfield rotational viscometer, petroleum product viscometer, petroleum product Engel’s viscometer The dial plus pointer is used to read, and its stability and reading deviation are combined to have 0.5 divisions. If the reading is too small, such as around 5 divisions, the relative error will be more than 10%. If you choose a suitable rotor or speed to make the reading at 50 grid, then its relative error can be reduced to 1%. When the indicated value is greater than 90 grids, the torque generated by the spring is too large, which can easily cause creep and damage the spring, so the rotor and speed must be selected correctly.
- Selection of measuring tool container (outer cylinder). For the double-cylinder rotational viscometer, please read the instrument manual carefully, and match the different rotors (inner cylinders) with the corresponding outer cylinders, otherwise the measurement results will have large deviations. For a single-cylinder rotational viscometer, in principle, the radius of the outer cylinder is required to be infinite, but the actual measurement requires that the inner diameter of the measuring cylinder is not less than a certain size. It is required to measure the diameter of the beaker or straight container not less than 70 mm. Experiments have proved that, especially when the No. 1 rotor is used, if the inner diameter of the container is too small, it will cause a large measurement error.
- Cleaning of the rotor. The measuring rotor (including the outer cylinder) should be clean and free from dirt. Generally, it should be cleaned in time after measuring, especially after measuring paint and adhesives. Pay attention to the cleaning method, soak it in a suitable organic solvent, and never scrape it hard with a metal knife, because severe scratches on the rotor surface will cause deviations in measurement results.
