- For the digital display viscometer, observe whether the model displayed matches the label on the back of the instrument when starting the machine. After the automatic zero calibration is completed, observe whether the display percentage of the torque is between +/- 0.2. If the value is relatively large, the shaft tip and shaft seat are severely worn, and accessories need to be replaced.
- Gently move the rotating shaft by hand to observe its swing state. If the rotating shaft stops suddenly, there is a problem with the instrument and parts need to be replaced.
- Install the rotor and set the rotation speed at 10RPM for idling.
1) Observe whether the rotation of the shaft is concentric (whether there is a large swing, and the cause of the unclean connection is excluded). If the swing exceeds 1mm, the main shaft needs to be adjusted or replaced.
2) Observe the torque % to see if the value is stable. If it fluctuates between multiple numbers, there is a problem with the instrument and parts need to be replaced.
The following are some common faults of digital display viscometer:
- Wear of the shaft tip and jewel bearing seat: This is a very common failure. The shaft tip and jewel seat are used to support the weight of the viscometer’s sensor, shaft and rotor. Normally, it should be smooth with little friction, but due to the long-term contact between the two or careless operation, the shaft tip will wear hard. Damage to the surface of the gem seat will cause the surface of the gem seat to become uneven, so that the contact between the two will not be a point but a surface, which will increase the frictional resistance and affect the accuracy of the instrument. On the operation display of the instrument, there will be a phenomenon that the torque is not “0” after the power is turned on (the dial shows that the pointer is not at “0”).
- Uncleanness between the shaft tip and the jewel bearing seat: such as the laboratory environment, the volatilization of materials may cause this problem.
- Shaft bending: it may be caused by collision of the shaft or long-term excessive force when installing the rotor.
- The panel is out of control: This situation is due to long-term use and long-term pressing of the keys, which makes the keys lose their function and are damaged.
- Damage to the PCB board: Because some customers use unstable power supply, the instantaneous voltage is too large, and the power board or display board is burned out, resulting in failure to boot or display data. At this time, a new circuit board needs to be replaced.
