As a precision instrument, the rotational viscometer will inevitably undergo certain changes in its technical status due to various reasons such as the working environment and operating methods during operation, which may affect the performance of the equipment, and even induce equipment failures and accidents. Therefore, analysts must understand the common faults and solutions, and be able to discover and eliminate these hidden dangers in time, and repair the faults that have occurred in time to ensure the normal operation of the equipment.
- Fault: The motor does not rotate when the power is turned on.
Cause: The fuse is blown and the capacitor is broken down.
Remedy: Unscrew the fuse and replace the fuse. Open the base plate and replace the capacitor. - Fault: The outer drum swings greatly, exceeding 0.15mm.
Reason: Collision or hard loading and unloading make it deformed.
Remedy: Replace the outer drum. - Fault: The measurement error is too large.
Cause: The torsion spring loses precision.
Remedy: Calibrate by referring to “Torsion Spring Calibration Method for Instrument Calibration”. If the torsion spring is deformed, the torsion spring should be replaced. For the method, refer to “Replacement of Torsion Spring for Instrument Calibration”. - Fault: When the outer drum rotates, the inner drum falls.
Reason: The inner cylinder is not installed properly, there is debris in the taper hole of the inner cylinder or the surface of the taper hole is damaged.
Remedy: Clean the taper hole of the inner cylinder and reinstall the inner cylinder. If the surface of the taper hole is damaged, the inner cylinder should be replaced with a new one. Refer to “Test Operation Method 2” for the installation method. - Fault: 300r/min, 600r/min speed error is large.
Cause: The elastic connecting sleeve slipped.
Troubleshooting method: Open the gear box cover and the base plate, loosen the screws and take off the gear, loosen the bolts of the two brackets from the base, take out the transmission shaft, tighten the elastic hinge sleeve and set the set screws. If the elastic hinge sleeve is damaged, replace the elastic hinge sleeve. - Fault: The dial does not rotate.
Reason: The bearing D85 is corroded.
Troubleshooting method: take off the shield, loosen the set screw, take out the torsion spring and the gear case cover, remove the outer cylinder, inner cylinder, collar, elastic retaining ring for the shaft of the bearing cover, and take out the dial from the upper part and inner barrel shaft, replace the bearing. - Fault: The shaft of the inner cylinder is bent.
Cause: Collision with the inner cylinder shaft or uneven force while loading and unloading.
Remedy: Replace the inner cylinder shaft. For the maintenance method, refer to item 6 above. After taking out the inner cylinder shaft assembly, press out the inner cylinder shaft. When installing a new inner cylinder shaft, it must fit firmly.
If the rotational viscometer breaks down again, you can try to use the above methods to solve it. If you can’t solve it, you should immediately find the maintenance personnel for repair. Although we cannot prevent the occurrence of these faults, we can reduce the occurrence of problems. As long as the installation work is done before using the product, the problems can be found in time during use and the experience methods can be summed up to avoid similar problems from reappearing. However, it can handle and avoid common faults very well, and it can also make full use of the product and make the effect more obvious.
